5 Steps To A More Relaxing Room

By Adam 1 April 2015

In this day and age it can be very difficult to switch off from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Was the cat fed? Are the kids ok? Did I hand that report in on time? There is always something buzzing around your brain. It can very often lead to sleep deprivation and this in turn can cause negative effects on your productivity during the day.

Your bedroom is your safe haven, your place of solace – a world away from the world where you can relax and let your mind and body re-energise….no? Well if this doesn’t sound like your bedroom then try these simple tips to help you relax and turn your bedroom into your new favourite place to be:

  1. Redecorate! A fresh start is healthy so choose calming and soothing colours (nothing bright or too dark). Using a calmer palette is easier on the eyes and this in turn means the other senses can let themselves relax.

  2. Remove all electrical appliances from the room – no TV, no radio, no computers! All of the technology creates negative electrical energy which believe it or not is buzzing all around you when you are trying to get to sleep.

  3. Softer Lighting – use of lamps and candles is so much better for relaxation than high wattage light bulbs or strip lights. Dimmer switches are fantastic too as they help set the mood.

  4. Keep the clutter to an absolute minimum – store anything that should not be seen cleverly to maximise the feeling of space and positive energy.

  5. Fresh Air – if possible try to keep a window open when you sleep – the fresh flow through of cool clean air is really good for the senses and helps settle you into a deeper more hibernating sleep pattern – beneficial for a productive day to follow!

6. Ensure you are comfortable, many people don’t have the right mattress or fresh bedding and this can also affect the way we sleep and relax.  We now have a large range of bedding for most sizes.
