Best Beds For A Small Guest Room

Guest rooms tend to be smaller than master bedrooms in households as they are less frequently used. Due to this decrease in size, finding a bed that is suitable for a smaller guest room can often be a challenging task.

If you’re looking to design your own guest room, it’s important to consider which type of bed frame would be best for you. Below, we delve into some of the considerations you should make when buying a guest bed for a small room, and outline some of our favourite options.

What Size Bed Should I Have in a Guest Room?

When considering an idea like this, before even beginning to look at design, you should consider size. What sort of size bed can your guest room accommodate? If it’s very small, consider a wooden small single bed. If it’s a little larger, maybe a single wooden bed would be suitable.

Generally, a small double wooden bed or standard double bed would be the best beds for small rooms – they’re large enough for two people to use without taking up a dramatic amount of your floor space. However, the best size guest bed for you will depend entirely on the size of the room you’re working with, so remember to take the measurements of the room into consideration before rushing out to furnish it.

What Types of Guest Bed Are There?

The stand out bed of choice for a guest room, is of course a guest bed (pictured). A low platform bed that rests near to the floor with a mattress on top, perfectly suited for slotting underneath a larger bed frame, if required. Guest beds can be especially handy if you’re looking to take up less space when the bed is not being used inside a room. Simply slide it out from underneath the accompanying bed when you need a place for a guest to sleep and then slide it right back under the bed when your guest has had their fill of satisfyingly convenient sleep.

A day bed

Our wooden day beds are a perfectly multi-functional bed frame option, just like the above guest bed. In this case, however, day beds are perfect for dual-purpose rooms that could do without a bed taking up space by day.

The convenient day bed is an unsuspecting sofa for the most part, but can easily become somewhere to sleep at night without the hassle of setting up a whole new bed. Simply add your bedding, and you’re ready to go!

Storage beds

Wooden storage beds are a great idea for guest rooms that need to double as somewhere to keep your out-of-season wardrobe. From ottoman beds to our space saver range, using the space under your guest bed will minimise clutter throughout the rest of the room, making them ideal for smaller guest rooms. If you're tight on space but want to maximise your storage options then a single bed with storage is a great option to fit into limited space.

Utilising your under-the-bed space with storage boxes is something we’d recommend for any bedroom and any bed frame that allows it, but especially so in a guest bed, as it becomes the perfect place for storing anything your guest might need during their stay; clean towels, spare pillows, and more.
