Glamorous Camping as they call it, is for people who hate the idea of traditional camping, but want to take away some of the enjoyment it brings. Popular in the 21st century, Glamping has brought the luxuries of hotel accommodation alongside the escapism and adventure recreation that camping brings, giving your average holiday maker the best of both worlds. If you can’t part way with your luxury wooden bed, for a standard sleeping bag then this is definitely for you, as large double beds are popular amongst all glamping resorts.

Glamping originally began back in the 1900’s, it was popular throughout the European and American Safari’s in Africa. Wealthy travellers accustomed to comfort and luxury of course did not want to sacrifice either, and their camp-site and pampered wilderness lifestyles reflected it. Glamping seems to be more modest in it’s modern day form, combining both yesterday’s amenities with today’s technology. It also goes by a few other names such as boutique camping, luxury camping or comfy camping.

There are many structures that feature in today’s glamping, ‘Yurts’ which are portable round tents originating from Central Asia, ‘Tipis’ which are conical tents, pods, bell tents, safari tents, tent cabins and tree houses. Glampsites range in price from as little as $50 (£32) per night to thousands per night, depending on the glampsites amenities, which can include fresh bed linens, en suite wash rooms, room service and private verandas.

There are many Glamping resorts spanning all over the UK, as this new craze is growing more and more popular by the day which unfortunately could lead to the despairing demise of old school, traditional camping.
