We at Get Laid Beds enjoy reading fascinating facts for fun, shock, amazement and a wide spectrum of other emotions. We have put together a snippet of our top five bed related Guinness World Records that we have enjoyed – and hope that you do too!
1) The Largest Bed
The largest bed can be found in the Netherlands and was made at Commissie Zomerfeesten St Gregorious Hertme on 28th May 2011. This astonishingly large bed measures 16.44m (53ft 11”) wide and 26.5m (86ft 11”) long – this would be bigger than most people’s houses. I think we are a little bit envious of this bed and we can only hope that he has a television to match!
2) Most Valuable Bed
The most valuable bed can be found in China and has been priced at a whopping £270,000 (roughly based on UK sterling) which is a higher than average cost of a house to buy in the UK. The bed is called the K.Mooi Crystal Noir Limited Edition and was made for 15th October 2009 for this Guinness World Record. It is covered with over 800 thousand individual Swarovski crystals which certainly bring the ‘bling’ factor!
3) Fastest Mobile Bed
A fast mobile bed? We were surprised by this too…but it truly is a completely roadworth motorised bed with the ability to attain speeds of up to 69mph. This was achieved on November 7th 2008 on a private road in the UK by Edd China. We think Get Laid Beds should have their own personal fleet of this – what do you think?
4) Most People On A Single Bed
Circolo Sportivo Di Falzes created the challenge of fitting the most people on a standard sized UK bed – this had to include that NO body parts were touching the floor. This was achieved by the group in Germany and on the 4th June 2011 and they managed to squeeze a massive 51 people onto a standard single size – we wish we had a picture of this. We thought this might be a challenge for our own Get Laid Beds world record!
5) Most People Eating Breakfast In Bed
Everyone enjoys a good breakfast in bed but Priceline and Women’s Health in Australia attempted a group breakfast in bed on the 2nd March. This feat included 289 individual people and 85 Queen sized beds – all eating a breakfast that consisted of a minimum of 2 items and a beverage. We think this should be a custom to always have breakfast in bed!
We found that these facts made us laugh and stay shocked at the same time due to the enormous feats that people go to. We hope that one day, Get Laid Beds can attempt their own feature for the Guinness World Record book!
