There are countless ways you can spruce up the bedroom. Whether you’re looking to perform a major DIY project or merely looking to tidy up the place a bit, innovation is just around the corner.
A common trend is to combine your furniture to improve space and efficiency. With things like beds that slide out from a hidden compartment, and foldable furniture placed carefully within another compartment, it’s very modern and streamlined, but not very homely. If you prefer for your bedroom to be a display of what makes you, the slim, minimalist style is not for you.
A less common, but still very popular idea is to have your bed, or numerous other possessions and pieces of furniture in a hidden compartment, or the loft above you! There are some crazy hidden doors, crawlspaces and other sneaky areas to hide away in. This could be a good thing, especially if you have kids. Perhaps if there’s a playroom up in the loft, fit a ladder to a hatch in their room. One that can be pulled down only by you of course. Hidden doors and floor spaces work a charm for that getting that extra bit of customisation. If you don’t have kids and you’ve got a hidden room, it’s a great place to hang out with friends.
For those bigger, roomier bedrooms, consider having unique furniture. Custom designed furniture is excellent compared to normal furniture. Think about fitting your room with some comfortable sofas, or perhaps even a larger bed. While these things may sound normal, a very high level of quality will set them apart from the rest of the crowd. Another choice to consider would be a small water feature. Having a thin, modern fountain in your bedroom is nothing compared to the person whose entire bedroom was a swimming pool with a platform in the centre for the bed.
However, it’s not really about what’s expensive and what’s not when it comes to building a unique bedroom. You should find things which interest you and you alone, you should create something wonderful from just what you can find around you. Building a unique bedroom isn’t about finding the coolest thing to put in it. A unique bedroom should be a projection of yourself and your thoughts, feeling and aspirations.
