Allergy Awareness Week: Our Range of Mattresses

Luxury Latex Mattress - Our Carefully Selected Mattress Range at Get Laid Beds

This week is Allergy Awareness Week so we thought it may be best if we could advise those who suffer with allergies on the best mattress type for them. As you spend a third of your life on a mattress and hopefully many years on the same one, you want to be assured that you can have a great night’s sleep – sneeze free!

First of all, regardless of allergies, you should always start with a mattress that you believe is right for your support level whether this be firm, medium or soft. We find as a rule that people who tend to sleep on their sides tend to favour a medium rated mattress whereas those who sleep on their front or back tend to favour a firmer rated mattress.

Now, should you suffer from allergies, the most immediate choice most people jump to would be a latex mattress, like our Luxury Latex Mattress. Latex foam is similar to memory foam in the way it contours and moulds to your individual body shape but it has a faster spring back time than memory foam and as latex is a natural product, it’s also eco-friendly. It is also naturally hypoallergenic and is dust mite and mould resistant. However, latex can often be a more expensive choice to have when compared to other types of mattresses.

Another choice to consider would be a memory foam mattress. Memory foam works by moulding to your individual body shape offering a tailor made level of support and comfort for you. Memory foam will also assume it’s natural position once the body pressure has been released. Like latex foam, memory foam is also hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant. Take a look at our Classic Memory Foam Mattress.

Alongside these foam mattresses, many mattresses now also come with hypoallergenic covers and treated fillings which make it a lot easier for people with allergies to choose a non-foam mattress. For example, our Pocket 1000 Mattress is finished with hypoallergenic fillings and cover to help reduce the risk of an allergy flare up. This is the same story for our Pocket 2000 Memory Mattress which is one of our most highly recommended mattresses. Should you already have an existing mattress that you are happy with, why not take a look at having a hypoallergenic cover to be placed over it? This can also be a great hygiene option for use on guest beds or occasional use mattresses.
