Nature Sounds To Help You Sleep

The sound of nature helps you to sleep

Many people struggle to get to sleep at night, it’s a very common problem. There are countless options and methods designed to help you sleep at night and many of them work very well. However, we think that an excellent option to consider if you’re finding it difficult to get to sleep at night is nature sounds.

When speaking about “nature sounds”, we’re talking about the constant hum and ambience of the world slowly passing by. We’re not, for example, talking about seagulls screeching while they fight over a lone chip found on the pavement. We’re talking about sounds like waves gently washing against a beach, or a small stream bubbling through a forest that rustles slightly as the branches of the trees sway in the breeze. Maybe the sound of a gentle summer shower against a window.

Our favourite nature sound to encourage sleep has got to be the sound of a small stream bubbling through a forest. It’s quiet and soothing, perfect when you need to relax and settle down. Online, you can find a variety of different platforms that offer authentic sounding nature tracks. Many of them often looping tracks, also very well suited to times when you just want to relax, sleeping or not. There are even some nature sound videos on YouTube that are over 12 hours long!

However, there are some better, more customisable options that we prefer when it comes to soothing background sounds. There are websites where you can hand pick the sounds that are played, at what volume, and the frequency they’re played (for example how often a bird chirps per 10 minutes). These are best for finding the perfect balance that will have you dozing off in no time. Most of these have rather extensive soundbanks, so the option for customisation really does allow you to craft a tailored experience. Fortunately, most of them also feature a save function, so you can return to the balance of sounds you enjoyed previously.
