As part of our Halloween Celebrations here at Get Laid Beds, we are going to introduce to you our top tips on helping you to get your children to sleep this Halloween.

  1. Set A Sweetie Limit – When your child returns home from a long night of trick or treating with a bag full of sugary delights, the temptations is always to allow them to just dive straight in. But try to manage expectations, perhaps set them a limit , or try and gently explain how it may be nice to save some sweets for the rest of the week to prize the sweets from their possession.

  2. Aim For A Daytime Nap – If you could possibly make this happen, then it is a very good idea. For little ones this is such an exciting time, they’re all dressed up, they’re having fun with their friends, and with all the sweets there is bound to be a sugar rush. So if they get over-tired post trick or treating you could be in for a very ‘tricky’ bedtime.

  3. Soothe Before Bed – You may need to put on your special calming charm here, a warm soothing bath, the most comforting of bedtime stories, the favourite teddy and some warm milk will come in handy. Also it is important you consider some of the scarier things your child may have seen throughout the day, it may be a good idea to talk to them about it to remove some anxiety before they go to sleep.

  4. Manage Bedtimes – It is recommended by experts than on an exciting night like this, you plan for a slightly later bedtime. Try and allow your child an extra 30 minutes, and do your best to stick to it. Of course, with all the excitement it will be hard to get them to bed, but ensure you repeat that it is an extra treat for them to be awake this late.
