We believe that everyone deserves a beautifully designed bed frame, which is why we created our range of adjustable beds. Perfect for controlling posture and improving accessibility, these beds help to support independent and comfortable living.

To help you decide whether an adjustable bed is the right option for you, we’ve put together this handy guide full of hints and tips.

What is an Adjustable Bed?

Platform Motorised Adjustable Bed (No Headboard)

An adjustable bed is a specialist bed frame designed to be profiled to a number of different sleeping positions. Our adjustable slat base allows you to modify the position of your bed base alignment through the use of electric motors. Made up from a 5 part adjustable base, you can control both the leg and head positions.

The mechanism uses dual electric motors which are low energy consumption while providing a strong lift of up to 155kg (24 stone). The movement is also controlled by an easy to use remote which is cordless for practicality.

One of the main reasons people opt for an adjustable bed is to aid with health concerns. The ability to recline into a variety of positions based on your needs can help to improve circulation, ease back pain and relieve heartburn.

Adjustable Beds vs Regular Beds

In terms of design, there is very little difference between our adjustable and regular bed frames. Our adjustable beds are just as sleek and elegant as our regular range, meaning you don’t have to sacrifice an ounce of style.

Our adjustable beds are also available in all sizes, not just single. If you choose a bed frame suitable for two people, your bed will be fitted with a dual system to allow each side of the bed to be adjusted independently. This means you can each choose the right settings for you without disrupting your partner.

Whilst we don’t consider there to be many disadvantages to adjustable beds, there are just a couple of things to consider before investing in one. Firstly, with the additional technology needed for adjustable beds, the price of repairs can be higher than a regular bed.

Secondly, adjustable beds are around 3 times heavier than regular frames. This only needs to be considered if you’re placing it on suspended flooring or want to move your bed regularly.

What is the best mattress for an adjustable bed?

If you plan on purchasing an adjustable bed frame, an important consideration is the mattress you choose. Only certain options will be able to adapt and shape to the electronic bases movements.

Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam already holds the advantage of moulding to the contour of your body. This helps to evenly support your body weight. The added advantage is the foam flexes easily when used with our adjustable bed base.

Latex Mattress

This choice in mattress holds similar benefits to a memory foam mattress and they also work well with adjustable beds.

Pocket 1000

Our uniquely designed pocket 1000 mattress has been specially designed to work in tandem with our adjustable bed base. Pocket sprung mattresses are known for their high levels of comfort. Each spring works independently, distributing your weight for the perfect night's sleep.
