Get Laid Beds celebrate 13 years of hand crafting heritage. Over the years we have gone from humble beginnings in a shared garage, to slowly perfecting our products through constant innovation, as well as great pride in delivering products that matter to you and your sleep. Looking back on 13 years of production, we wanted to showcase our story from a simple piece of wood, to the many beds and styles you can see on our site today and invite you to explore our past and present of Get Laid Beds!
Our journey started in 2008, when our founders Jonny and Jean came together with their spare garage, and a unique skill set blend of interior design, carpentry, and manufacturing that was complimented alongside architecture, technology, and design. It was not long after this (and after some trial and error) that an innovation within an outdated industry was starting to form.
After various back & forths with the development stage, making the right site, logo designs, and finding our feet in the digital world, the first Get Laid Beds website was born! Keep in mind that this was the time of the Desktop, so with mobile browsing not being so popular, it was desktop only (which in today’s world, would be unimaginable) but managed to secure our first online sale in March of 2013, which from that point, only pushed us further to provide the best possible product we could, using the knowledge and experience we had gained prior.
As time went on, the sales came in, and the product offerings grew from strength to strength. This led to us needing to think outside the box with our current offerings, while also trying to keep up with demand and space for the products at hand! Both space and production ramped up, and before you know it, we have offices to ensure we could handle the products in all aspects from planning, production, packaging, and sending out for delivery. To think we had gone from a simple idea in a shared garage, to a flourishing business that was only going from strength to strength with each bed that we crafted.
To give you some insight, we had so many variations of products to share, from Low beds that are contemporary, low profile in appearance, and fit for any modern bedroom, to the four poster bed that injects a grand design of elegance to any master bedroom. This was just the tip of the barn for the quantity of products we could provide.
On the last part of our Birthday blog journey, we briefly visit March 2019, the day we ended up losing everything to a devastating fire that destroyed all of the stock, materials, and orders along with it. However, with a strong belief in the brand, a passion with our product, as well as our fantastic team, we rose from the ashes like a phoenix and with the limited team we had, we invested everything we could to recover and continue as normal.
So that is exactly what we did, we built on our belief and to this day, Get Laid Beds have made over 157,000 beds, expanded our production facilities, expanded to many oversea territories, and even supplied our high quality beds to many of known faces across the globe! Better yet, we’ve also planted more than 105,000 trees in Africa to help bring sustainability and combat deforestation through partnership with the International Tree Foundation.
We welcome you to celebrate our 13th Birthday by browsing our website to find the perfect sleeping solution for your home. Whether it be browsing our Wooden bed selections, comfy mattresses, to accessories that would compliment any bed or bedroom arrangement.
