A step-by-step guide to relocating your handcrafted bed safely and easily
One of the many benefits of owning a solid wood Get Laid Bed is its lasting durability, and with a little care, it can move with you from home to home without losing its charm. Whether you're rearranging your room or moving to a new space entirely, disassembling and transporting your bed frame properly ensures it stays strong, beautiful, and creak-free.
Here’s how to move your Get Laid Bed with confidence and care.
The Allen key that came with your bed (or a 4mm replacement)
A Phillips head screwdriver
Soft cloth or padding
Ziplock bags or small containers for screws and bolts
Labels or masking tape and pen (optional, but helpful)
A second pair of hands (for heavier or larger bed sizes)
Start by removing all bedding, pillows, mattress toppers, and the mattress itself. Place them somewhere clean and out of the way. This makes it easier to handle the frame and reduces the risk of anything getting damaged or dirty during the process.
Begin with the removable parts:
Slats - Carefully lift each slat from the frame. If your model uses roll-out slats, simply roll them up and secure them with string or tape.
Centre Support Rail - On larger beds (e.g. king or super king), the centre rail may be attached with a few screws. Use your Allen key or screwdriver to loosen these gently.
Side Rails, Headboard, Footboard - Next, unscrew the bolts connecting the side rails to the headboard and footboard. Keep all bolts and fittings in a labelled bag or container.
Tip: Label each section with masking tape (e.g., "left side rail") to make reassembly easier later on.
Wrap each part of the frame in soft cloths, towels, or packing blankets to prevent scratches or dings in transit. Pay extra attention to:
Headboard and footboard edges
Corners of side rails
Decorative detailing
Avoid using plastic wrap directly on wood for long periods, as it can trap moisture.
Lift each piece, don’t drag. This helps avoid unnecessary pressure on joints or legs.
Keep parts flat and well-supported during transport.
If moving yourself, stack wrapped sections carefully with heavier pieces on the bottom and slats or rails on top.
If you’re using a moving company, clearly mark items as “Fragile - Wooden Furniture” and mention they’re handmade for extra care.
Once you're ready to reassemble:
Place all parts on a clean, flat surface.
Use your labelled parts and stored screws to match everything correctly.
Reattach the headboard, footboard, and side rails loosely at first, then tighten evenly to ensure a firm fit.
Take your time, and don’t forget to realign the slats and centre rail snugly to restore full support.
While everything is apart, it's a great time to:
Wipe down the frame with a soft cloth
Apply a natural wood polish to refresh the grain
Vacuum or clean under where the bed usually sits
You’ll start life in your new space with a clean, revitalised bed setup.
Get Laid Beds are crafted not just for comfort, but for life. With their sturdy joinery and thoughtful design, they’re easy to take apart and put back together as many times as you need. Whether it’s your first move or your fifth, your bed can move right along with you, no damage, no stress, just dependable quality.
