How to get ready for your bed or mattress delivery

By George 13 January 2026

There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a new bed arriving. To help make your delivery day go as smoothly as possible, we’ve put together a quick checklist of things you can do to prepare in advance.

1. Check Your Delivery and Contact Information

Before your bed or mattress is due to be on its way, double-check the delivery date, and contact details you've provided. It’s important to make sure we have the right phone number in case our delivery team needs to get in touch with you on the day. If anything’s changed since you placed your order, such as a new address or access instructions, please let us know as soon as possible, by contacting customer service.

2. Prepare your space

Whether you’ve chosen to assemble the bed yourself, or opted for our assembly service, a clear and tidy space will make everything easier. Spend some time moving any existing furniture out of the way, clear the floor of rugs or other items, and give the area a quick clean to get it ready for your new frame. If you’ve opted for our assembly service, make sure the room is ready and there is enough room for our installers to assemble the bed.

If you’ve opted for self-assembly, when preparing your room, it’s also worth making sure that you have the necessary tools needed to assemble the bed readily available, to save time when it comes to putting your bed together. Usually, you’ll need an electric screwdriver, as well as a mallet (optional).

3. Measure Doors and Hallways

Our beds are designed to be delivered in parts for easy access, but it’s still worth measuring any tight corners, narrow staircases or low ceilings that we may pass along the way. If you think access might be tricky, let us know in advance and our team may be able to offer guidance or alternatives.

If you’ve opted for self assembly, your new bed frame will come flat packed, making it easy to transport to your room of choice. We’ll usually deliver your bed in at least 2 boxes (size & style dependant) to make it easier to transport your bed to the bedroom. However some boxes might be heavy, so you may need someone to help you carry the boxes, especially up the stairs.

How our Mattresses are Delivered

Please note that our Memory Foam mattresses are delivered rolled-up and in a box. This makes it easier to transport your mattress to its designated bedroom. Our Pocket Sprung mattresses cannot be rolled and are delivered flat, so it’s really important to make sure the dimensions will fit through your home. If you ordered a pocket sprung mattress, then follow the steps above to ensure you can carry the mattress through your house. If you are at all unsure, please contact customer service, who will happily advise.

4. Clear a Path

Before delivery day, make sure the route from your front door to the bedroom is free from obstacles. Move any furniture, boxes, or rugs that might get in the way, and ensure floors are clear and safe to walk on. This will make it easier for you or the delivery team to carry your bed or mattress without damage, and it also reduces the risk of accidents. Don’t forget to check hallways, doorways, and staircases, as sometimes even small items like plants or shoes can slow things down.

If you opted for our room of choice delivery or assembly delivery service, our team will carry all the boxes to the room of assembly. If you have opted for self assembly, then you will need to transport your new wooden bed or mattress from the delivery door to your chosen bedroom yourself. Therefore, having a clear path to your bedroom can really make delivery day a lot easier and manageable.

5. Check Your Delivery

Once your bed arrives, take a moment to check everything is present and correct. You should receive all the parts needed for assembly, including a printed installation guide. If anything’s missing or doesn’t seem quite right, contact us straight away and we’ll do what we can to fix the issue. You can also visit our Help & Advice centre where we answer most common questions.

6. Have a Backup Plan

While we aim for every delivery to be seamless, it’s always good to have a plan B, especially if you're on a tight schedule. This might mean having someone available to accept delivery on your behalf, just to make sure that you can still have your frame ready for bed time.
