Raising the Standard: Our New Workshop Upgrade

At Get Laid Beds, we’ve always believed that good furniture starts with good craftsmanship. Every bed we build begins its journey as a piece of solid wood, shaped and finished by people who genuinely care about the details. That focus on quality, including clean lines, smooth surfaces, accurate joinery,  is what has helped us grow from a two-person workshop to a globally recognised manufacturer of handmade wooden bed frames.

As demand for our designs increases, so does our responsibility to maintain the quality our customers expect. That’s why we’ve recently invested in a new precision turning lathe, an upgrade that strengthens the consistency and finish of our turned components while allowing our makers to do what they do best: create exceptional, long-lasting beds by hand.

Many of our most recognisable designs feature turned legs that bring a sense of character and elegance to a solid wood frame. From the subtle taper on our modern styles to the sweeping, statement-making posts used on canopy and four-poster beds, each profile is created to highlight the natural beauty of the timber. These legs aren’t simply decorative; they play an essential structural role, carrying weight evenly through the frame while adding a distinctive silhouette that customers instantly associate with the quality of Get Laid Beds.

Producing these longer, more detailed components demands a higher level of precision than flat or straight-cut parts. Variations of even a few millimetres can affect the balance, strength or symmetry of the finished bed. With our new turning lathe, every leg begins with a perfectly shaped and finely finished form, giving our makers a flawless base to hand-sand, detail and finish. The result is a range of turned legs that look cleaner, feel smoother, and remain consistent across every order, whether they’re part of a stylish guest bed or a large four-poster bed destined for a master bedroom.
