IT was found to be the most watched Halloween movie worldwide. In fact, the 2017 adaptation of the Stephen King classic is the biggest Halloween favourite in a whopping 56 countries. All across the world, they all float down there.

Given how common a fear clowns are, this is perhaps unsurprising. Good horror movies tap into those pulse-quickening terrors, thrusting viewers into a white-knuckle ride from the safety of their homes. Pennywise certainly does the trick – you won’t look at a red balloon the same way! 

Coraline

Halloween is one of the most exciting times for kids, and the second most watched movie, Coraline, is a lot more family friendly. Number one in 9 countries, the animated fantasy horror is rated PG, although it does have some darker themes. Consider adding this 2009 adventure flick to your October 31^st family movie night.

For scare-seekers in the UK, it’s all just a bunch of Hocus Pocus. The three wicked witches of Salem are an October comfort for 288,000 searchers. Hocus Pocus 2 is the most popular, with the timeless original in second place with 135,000 searches.
