Four poster beds – The deep, dark tones of solid walnut make a four poster bed feel genuinely dramatic. Walnut posts and crossbeams create an imposing centrepiece suited to generous primary bedrooms.
Low beds – Modern walnut bed frames built closer to the floor, allowing the dark grain to anchor minimalist interiors without overwhelming the space.
Standard height beds – The classic walnut bed frame profile, offering practical under-bed clearance while showcasing the timber's natural depth and consistency of colour.
Platform beds – Clean-lined walnut platform bed frames with sturdy slats, removing the need for a divan and letting the natural grain take centre stage.
Storage beds – Walnut bed frames with integrated storage that combine sophisticated design with discreet everyday practicality.
Childrens beds – Solid walnut is dense and resilient enough to handle years of energetic use, making it a premium long-term investment that grows naturally with your child.
Attic beds – Lower-profile walnut bed frames engineered for loft conversions and sloped ceilings without sacrificing mattress size.
Floating beds – Modern walnut bed frames with recessed supports that create a subtle hovering effect while highlighting the depth of the wood.
Space saver beds – Slimline walnut bed frames with reduced external bulk, ideal for maintaining visual openness in tighter rooms.
Day beds – A versatile walnut bed frame that doubles as refined seating by day and a generous sleeping space by night.
Japanese beds – Ultra-low walnut bed frames inspired by zen design, where simplicity and rich timber tones work in harmony.
Scandinavian beds – Clean, pared-back walnut bed frames that contrast dark wood warmth with light, minimalist interiors.
Adjustable beds – Solid walnut bed frames engineered to house electric adjustable mechanisms without compromising the integrity of the wood.
Sofa beds – Walnut sofa beds that combine solid hardwood construction with flexible seating and sleeping for multifunctional spaces.
Trundle beds – A smart walnut bed frame with a discreet pull-out bed beneath, ideal for accommodating guests without cluttering the room.
Ages with quiet elegance – A solid walnut bed frame doesn't just last - it evolves. The timber develops a slightly deeper, richer patina over time, gaining character and refinement the longer you own it.
Premium density with refined strength – With a Janka hardness of 1,010, walnut offers impressive durability while maintaining a smoother, more refined grain than heavier hardwoods.
Sustainably sourced North American timber – We carefully source our walnut from responsibly managed forests in the USA and Canada, where slower growth produces stable, high-quality boards ideal for long-lasting furniture.
A quieter, more refined grain – Unlike oak's bold, more open grain, walnut has a smoother, more uniform texture that suits contemporary and minimalist interiors where the bed is the focal point rather than a textural statement.
Mortise and tenon joinery throughout – Walnut's natural density pairs exceptionally well with traditional mortise and tenon joints, creating a frame that tightens over time and stays silent, square and stable for decades without loosening.
Pairs well with neutral or warm tones – Walnut's deep chocolate profile works best against warm whites, muted greens, terracotta, and soft greys. Avoid cool blues or stark whites, which can create an uncomfortable contrast with the timber's warmth.
Use felt pads on hard floors – Solid walnut bed frames can be around 40% heavier than softwood alternatives due to the timber's density. Felt pads beneath the legs protect wooden and tiled floors from marking and make repositioning easier if needed.
Expect subtle tonal shifts – Walnut may gently deepen or mellow in tone with exposure to natural light. This is part of the ageing process and enhances its natural warmth rather than detracting from it.

Solid walnut is cut from a single piece of timber and maintains its strength, grain, and appearance throughout the full depth of the wood. Walnut veneer uses a thin layer of real walnut bonded to cheaper composite materials like MDF or chipboard, which can chip, peel, or delaminate over time. All our walnut bed frames are made from 100% solid walnut - no veneers, no composites.
Not necessarily; our solid walnut bed frames are made to fit standard UK mattress dimensions, from single through to super caesar. As long as your current mattress is supportive, comfortable, and free from sagging, it will perform optimally on our solid walnut bases. However, many customers choose to pair their new frame with one of our mattresses for a fully upgraded sleep environment.
Not unless you want to. Most of our customers choose our assembly service, where we’ll professionally install it for you for total peace of mind. However, if you’d prefer to assemble it yourself, we offer two self-assembly options:
Room of Choice Delivery: we’ll deliver your bed to the room you choose, ready for you to assemble using our clear, easy-to-follow instructions
Standard Delivery: delivered to your front door for self-assembly
We source our walnut timber from sustainably managed forests in the USA and Canada, where colder climates slow the tree’s growth. This produces a tighter, more consistent grain, resulting in timber that is naturally stronger, more stable, and less prone to movement over time.
While it travels further, the difference lies in the quality. This slower-grown walnut offers a level of durability and refinement that’s difficult to achieve with faster-grown timber, ensuring your bed is built to perform and last for decades.
All of our walnut is sourced from responsibly managed forests that are carefully replanted and strictly regulated, so you can be confident in both its quality and its origin.
A walnut bed frame can support up to 471kg (74 stone). This capacity is due to extra-thick solid walnut slats (which are double the industry standard) and its handcrafted construction, which provide significantly more strength than standard high-street alternatives.
Oak has a slightly higher Janka hardness rating than walnut, meaning it is marginally harder. However, walnut remains exceptionally durable and offers a smoother, more refined grain that suits contemporary interiors.
Walnut’s dark, chocolate tones and varied grain patterns require a neutral, structured base to truly stand out. The Malmo rug provides this through its pale, linear texture, which acts as a crisp frame for the bed frame’s deep character. Integrating bedroom rugs with such clear definitions helps to break up the weight of the dark timber, ensuring the floor provides a sophisticated counterpoint that leaves the furniture clearly defined.
