Unique identity - Every bed is unique; the natural grain and texture of solid wood add a depth and warmth that synthetic materials lack.
Environmentally conscious - We exclusively use responsibly sourced timber, ensuring our frames are environmentally conscious and fully recyclable.
Natural airflow: We recommend leaving a couple of centimetres between your bed frame and the wall. As it is a natural material, this allows the timber to breathe and helps the wood maintain its character and finish for years to come.
Temperature & humidity: For rooms that experience shifting conditions throughout the year, like loft spaces and period properties, we recommend choosing a hardwood option. Their superior structural stability allows them to handle fluctuations in temperature and humidity effortlessly.

Do I need a new mattress when getting a new bed frame?
Not necessarily; our bed frames are made to fit standard UK mattress dimensions. As long as your current mattress is supportive, comfortable, and free from sagging, it will perform optimally on our solid wood bases. However, many customers choose to pair their new frame with one of our mattresses for a fully upgraded sleep environment.

Do wooden bed frames creak or squeak?
Our beds are designed to stay quiet, thanks to our craftsmanship and 100% solid wood construction, which is naturally strong and stable. We use traditional mortice and tenon joints as they lock the frame together naturally to provide optimum strength, which helps prevent creaks and squeaks over time. It is also backed by our 11-year guarantee.
How much weight can a solid wooden bed support?
Our bed frames are engineered to support up to 471kg (74 stone). This capacity is due to our extra-thick solid wood slats and handcrafted construction, which provide significantly more strength than standard high-street alternatives.
When calculating your requirements, ensure you include the combined weight of the sleepers, the mattress, and all bedding. Choosing a frame with a high weight tolerance ensures long-term structural integrity and prevents the sagging or snapping common in mass-produced beds.
Are wooden beds better than metal?
For most people, yes. Wooden beds are widely considered better than metal options, especially when crafted from 100% solid wood. Unlike metal frames, which can loosen, creak or rust over time, a solid wood bed remains stable, dependable and long-lasting.
Solid wood is also far more forgiving when it comes to scratches. Minor marks can often be buffed out, treated, or refinished, meaning your bed can stay looking beautiful for years. This makes hardwood bed frames an ideal choice for busy homes, homes with children or pets, and anyone who wants furniture built to age gracefully.
Solid wood is also a healthier choice. It won’t rust, corrode, or chip like metal, and it’s much easier to clean and maintain. A simple wipe-down keeps it looking and feeling fresh, with no risk of hidden dirt or oxidation.
Aesthetic versatility is another major advantage. Wooden bed frames work in virtually any bedroom style: from modern minimalist to rustic, Scandinavian, bohemian, traditional or luxury interiors. The natural grain brings warmth and character you simply can’t replicate with metal, and the overall look feels more premium and refined.
Are wooden beds good for your back?
Absolutely. A well-designed wooden bed frame provides stable, consistent support, which is essential for proper spinal alignment. Our solid wooden slats are engineered to support your mattress evenly, helping reduce pressure points and contributing to a healthier, more comfortable night’s sleep.
For those who need extra personalised support, several of our wooden beds are also available as adjustable beds. This allows you to fine-tune your sleeping position for improved comfort, circulation and back support — all while maintaining the strength, style and natural benefits of a wooden bed frame.
Is solid wood good for bed frames?
Yes, solid wood is one of the very best materials for a bed frame.
Not all wooden beds are created equal. Many cheaper options use engineered woods such as MDF, plywood, or particleboard. While these can look attractive, they are far less durable than solid wood and can warp, sag, or lose structural integrity over time. They’re also more prone to scratches, moisture damage, and general wear.
Solid wood beds, especially those made from premium hardwoods like oak or walnut, are exceptionally sturdy and long-lasting. Hardwood’s natural density and strength provide a stable, supportive foundation for your mattress, while resisting bending or wobbling. Unlike engineered alternatives, solid wood frames maintain their shape and integrity for decades, making them a smart long-term investment.
There are also aesthetic benefits. Each solid wood frame has a unique natural grain, giving your bed character and warmth that cannot be replicated in MDF or veneer finishes. Over time, the wood develops a rich patina, enhancing its premium feel and elevating your bedroom’s style.
