It depends on the post height. Standard four poster designs can look overwhelming in rooms with typical 8ft ceilings. For these situations we recommend either getting a low profile four poster bed as it reduces the height a little, or we can simply reduce the height of the posts. Our customers love the adaptability of our made to measure four poster beds for this reason.
Four poster beds work best in rooms with enough floor space to allow clear sightlines around all four posts. As a general guide, we recommend at least 12ft x 12ft for a king-size four poster, with enough ceiling height (ideally 9ft+) to let the bed sit well in the space rather than feeling overwhelming and cramped. In smaller rooms, slimmer posts or a crossbeam-free design help maintain the aesthetic without overwhelming the space.
Yes, though it requires a slightly different approach. Without crossbeams, you'll need ceiling-mounted hooks or a separate canopy rail to hang fabric.
